Our beloved Bonnie Johnston will be retiring from the bookkeeper position here in the St. Luke's office. If you or anyone you know is interested in this part-time position, please reach out to Rev. Bookkeeper – Position Description

Qualifications:  Experience in bookkeeping, payroll and record keeping 

Reports to:  Pastor

Responsibilities:

Interacts in Christian fellowship with all members of congregation and staff, throughout all duties and obligations, in order to make disciples of Jesus Christ by serving as an example to others.

1.     Accounts Payable

·       Pays bills and reimbursements in a timely manner, in conjunction with cash management procedures/functions.

2.     Payroll

·       Disburses payroll to all employees on their payroll schedule through direct deposit or manual checks.

·     Maintains complete and accurate records on all employees.

·       Responds to all correspondence between the IRS, State Department of Revenue and St. Luke’s.

·       Completes all W-2’s, 1099’s for employees and end of year reports to Internal Revenue Service and State of Louisiana.

3.     Cash Management 

·       Deposits all checks/cash into bank accounts. 

·       Keeps accurate records of bank balances up to date with reconciliation monthly.

·       Keeps accurate records of United Methodist Foundation Accounts and reports to Pastor and Finance Committee.

4.     Financial Statements

·       Prepares financial statement for Finance Committee meetings and at others times when requested.

5.     Contribution Records

·       Keeps accurate records of all receipts for pledges, gifts, donations and other income given to St. Luke’s Church by congregation and visitors for the end of year tax records. 

·       Maintains up to date contribution records.

6.     Audit Records

·       Prepares audit records for the Annual Audit by LA Annual Conference and the District Office

·       Attends the Annual Audit meeting with Pastor.

7.     Budget

·       Assists in preparing the budget and stewardship campaign for upcoming year with Pastor and Finance Committee.

8.     Meetings and Availability

·       Attends all Finance Committee and Church Council meetings.

Position is Part-time (approx. 18-15 hours a week)
